Hi Guys! I am back with another foodie tale… This time it’s about my all time favorite veggie, Spinach.
As a kid, I remember watching Popeye, and I always wondered what is it that he eats. I had no clue back then that Spinach was the English name for Palak (a vegetable very popular in Indian cuisine). So each time my Mum would make Spinach at home, I avoided it and wondered where can I find Spinach instead. Silly me should have just asked her, but I guess I enjoyed the hunt in my head for this power-infusing food.
But over the years, I did realize that Spinach was actually a readily available food item at home, and I had very easy access to it. Since then, there has been no looking back. And ever since I have begun to cook myself, I love Spinach even more.
Apart from all the health benefits (which I am sure you know and I am no expert in that department anyway), I feel Spinach is really easy to cook and can be had in various forms along with other vegetables, pastas etc. I personally love Palak Paneer (which is pureed Spinach with Cottage Cheese).
This dish is super easy to make, doesn’t take a lot of time to cook and tastes yum. If you are not a Cottage Cheese fan you can try the same recipe with Boiled Corns, Potatoes, Mushroom, Chicken etc… Yes, that’s how easily Spinach gets along with other food. And that’s what I absolutely love!
Spinach has also made me believe that eating healthy doesn’t mean you have to compromise on flavor and develop a bland-ish taste. Mix and match, and you can create amazing combinations that are not only good to eat, but taste great.
So Spinach is pretty much my go-to greeny, leafy vegetable and I absolutely love experimenting with it in the kitchen.
